Fregellae was an important Roman colony located on the Via Latina near the left branch of the Liri river. The city was probably founded by the Oscans and then occupied by the Volsci, before the destruction by the Samnites in 330 BC; in that year the people of Fabrateria Vetus (modern Ceccano) sought the help of Rome against the Samnites and in 328 BC a Latin colony was established near the site of the Volscian Fregellae. Not everybody knows that Fregellae faced the advance of Hannibal in 212 BC by destroying the bridge over the Liri river. During its existence Fregellae was a flourishing center in southern Lazio.

The Fregellae App offers an immersive and interactive reconstruction of the area of the archaeological excavations, while at the same time providing information on its history and its meaning. Thanks to the application, users can navigate and interact with 3D reconstructions of the colony in an innovative way, especially by means of a Mixed Reality feature.

Through a simple and intuitive interface, in fact, users can access content and reconstructions in two ways:

1 ) Through an interactive map they can select the points of interest and enable an immersive visualization of 3D reconstructions based on the use of device sensors (gyroscope and accelerometer)

2 ) Through the visual search function (camera mode), they will have access to these same 3D interactive scenes simply by pointing the camera of the device to specific images that are located in different rooms of the museum s archaeological Fregellae - or made available to users through the support website.

The application is a unique tool that makes available to those interested basic information about the colony, its architecture and its history.
